About Psychology based Hypnotherapy

Psychology based Hypnotherapy takes a scientific and evidence-based approach to hypnosis treatments. It combines the successful evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness with the powerful properties of hypnosis. The conception being that using hypnosis can reinforce treatment expectancies and increase treatment effects (Lynn and Kirsch, 2006).

Hypnosis, alongside mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy have been shown to be effective in huge numbers of scientific studies for treating pain, anxiety, self-esteem, depression, addictions and other matters that lead to an improvement in well-being both psychological and physical.

Viv Evans


Viv is an experienced, highly qualified therapist. Alongside her hypnotherapy qualifications, she holds a MSc in psychology and is a member of the prestigious British Psychological Society. Viv has conducted empirical research into the effectiveness of hypnotherapy. For more information regarding Viv's research click here

Viv has an interest in all evidence based therapies which is what prompted her to evolve her practice. She lives in Farnham, Surrey with her husband, children and Cairn terrier cross.
